Midland, TX police have confirmed on MPD Facebook page. that the shooter, a white male in his 30’s, has been shot and killed at the Cinergy movie complex in Odessa.
Five people have been confirmed dead, 21 “civilians” confirmed injured, according to the press conference by Odessa Police.
Police cannot confirm a second shooter, but they do believe both vehicles, the truck and mail car were driven by the same person.
A spokesman for the City of Odessa said a state trooper was shot on I-20 after he made a traffic stop involving the suspect. The suspect then fled then scene and began shooting people randomly. He then stole a mail truck and continued with his shooting spree, prompting the early reports of two shooters in separate vehicles.
During the conclusion of the manhunt for the suspect, an Odessa officer, and a Midland Police officer were shot.
All three Law Enforcement Officers are expected to make a full recovery.
Odessa Police said that the situation is still “fluid” and none of the details being currently released are “set in stone” since there are “multiple victims and multiple crime scenes”. Adding that it will take time “before we are able to confirm the entire sequence of events.”
Midland and Odessa are in West Texas, about 20 miles apart.
