Left-wing demonstrators have vowed to target the volatile White House leader, with one group set to fly a giant ‘angry baby’ Trump balloon above London.
Mr Trump – who has previously labelled Theresa May a “schoolmistress” – is quick to take offence and could explode if he feels he is being mocked during the visit, which begins on Thursday.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has given the green light for the six-metre, nappy-wearing inflatable to fly for two hours at Parliament Square Gardens.
The stunt has been branded “embarrassing”, with former UKIP leader Nigel Farage calling it “the biggest insult to a sitting US President ever”.
Government officials have scrambled to ensure Mr Trump is kept away from London where possible, with the main demonstrations set for the capital.
White House aides are dreading their unpredictable President’s response to widespread demonstrations as he is known to remain glued to his television set.
The President is set to give his trademark ‘thumbs-up’ to Brexit, and is due to reiterate his support for Britain’s decision to leave the EU.
One senior Republican told The Sunday Times that Mr Trump would spend the weekend in Scotland, where he is staying at his Turnberry golf course.
