The White House on Friday pushed back against reports that former Texas Gov. Rick Perry will soon be out as energy secretary.
“He’s not going anywhere. Not today, not tomorrow. Not next month,” said White House deputy press secretary Judd Deere.
A Politico report Thursday night said Perry is expected to leave his position by the end of November, citing three people familiar with his plans. Later on Thursday night, The Washington Post reported that four people said Perry plans to step down by the end of the year, and one said he would return to the private sector.
Perry, 69, joined President Donald Trump’s Cabinet in 2017. The most recent report that he planned to resign came out in April.
