A total of 177 Palestinians have been injured in a new wave of clashes with the Israeli servicemen in the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip, mostly due to the use of tear gas, local medical organizations told Sputnik.
According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society’s figures, a total of 164 Palestinians were injured in the clashes that took place in the West Bank on Friday.
“Eight of them were injured by military bullets, 25 by rubber bullets, 131 were injured by gas,” Palestine Red Crescent Society’s spokeswoman Erab Fuqaha said.
President Trump is reportedly ready to cut part of the United States’s aid package to the United Nations (U.N.) agency that oversees aid to Palestinian refugees, The Associated Press reported on Sunday.
The news outlet, citing anonymous officials, said Trump is mulling cutting aid for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency from $125 million to $60 million but has not yet made a decision.
A decision may come as soon as Tuesday, according to the AP.
Israeli soldiers attacked, Friday, a nonviolent Palestinian procession near the al-Azza refugee camp, north of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, causing many to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation in addition to cuts and bruises.
The Palestinians marched from the refugee camp, and headed towards the northern entrance of the city, while chanting against the ongoing Israeli occupation, and escalation, and the illegal recognition of the American president of occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in direct violation of International Law.
The protesters called for a strong and unified national front to counter the ongoing violations and oppression, and chanted for the liberation of Palestine, especially its occupied capital, Jerusalem.
But at nightfall, after the skirmishes died down, the region was bracing for worse.
Fear and trepidation are slowly building up, as US President-elect, Donald Trump, is fortifying his transitional team with people capable of bringing about a nightmare scenario, not only for Americans but for the rest of the world as well. Water war against Palestinians: Israel planned to supply West Bank with 40% less water than settlers
Israel’s National Infrastructure Minister Yuval Steinitz has been forced to block a plan that would see the country’s national water company build more infrastructure to provide water for controversial Jewish settlements, than for Palestinians, who already receive less.
In its future infrastructure plan, discussed at an unpublicized official meeting in September, the state-owned Mekorot Water Company proposed increasing the amount of water for Palestinians in the Israel-controlled West Bank from 45 cubic meters per person currently, to 65 cubic meters by 2050. In comparison, by the end of that period the Israeli settlements on the land occupied by Israel following the Six-Day War in 1967, would be receiving 40 percent more water.
Details of the meeting were disclosed by the Hebrew-language news website The Marker, and cited in the Haaretz, an English-language daily.
Following a drive-by shooting in East Jerusalem that left two Israelis dead, the deputy mayor of Jerusalem vowed to punish those responsible and to stop the alleged “animal behavior” of Palestinians through severe repercussions.
On Sunday, a Palestinian killed an Israeli pedestrian and a police officer in a drive-by shooting near the national police headquarters in Jerusalem before being fatally shot himself by police.
As the deadly wave of violence between Palestinians and Israelis shows no sign of abating, despite a drop in incidents from a high point last autumn, Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Meir Turgeman called for harsher measures against Palestinians.
“The people in East Jerusalem want to kill us and destroy us. Why do we need to give them a new chance every day?” Turgeman told Radio Jerusalem in an interview.
“Each time we lived in false hope that these people if we would help them, would change their animal behavior, but it turns out that nothing helps,” the politician said.
Comment: Animalistic behavior breeds animalistic behavior. Turgeman, like practically all Israeli politicians, is simply following (more…)
