More than 100 Million Americans Can Only Get Internet Service from Companies That Have Violated Net Neutrality
Even after so many efforts by Google like launching bug bounty program and preventing apps from using Android accessibility services, malicious applications somehow manage to get into Play Store and infect people with malicious software.
The same happened once again when security researchers discovered at least 85 applications in Google Play Store that were designed to steal credentials from users of Russian-based social network VK.com and were successfully downloaded millions of times.
The most popular of all masqueraded as a gaming app with more than a million downloads. When this app was initially submitted in March 2017, it was just a gaming app without any malicious code, according to a blog post published Tuesday by Kaspersky Lab.
However, after waiting for more than seven months, the malicious actors behind the app updated it with information-stealing capabilities in October 2017.
Almost two dozen senior Israel Defense Force service members, Defense Ministry officials and technology company employees were put in handcuffs on Tuesday for allegedly stealing $28 million, or 100 million new Israeli shekels, from the government, the Times of Israel reported.
The scheme to steal taxpayer funds allegedly involved the suspects billing Israel’s Defense Ministry for telecom projects that never happened or were only partially complete.

Geoengineering expert Dane Wigington is suing to get NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration) to give up its climate engineering information. But he’s hit a brick wall, and it’s all because the powers that be seek to hide this information from the public for a long as possible.
Wigington contends, “There is no hiding from what’s coming. . . . NOAA is not returning our FOIA’s, Freedom of Information Act requests.” He also says that this has been going on for 70 years, and was ramped up about 20 years ago. “This is the Orwellian world we live in,” said Wigington. A team of attorneys working with GeoengineeringWatch.org and Stop Geoengineering Minnesota is suing to get NOAA to release the information requested.
“They are legally required to give those to our attorneys, and they are not doing that. In fact, NOAA, in essence, flipped us the middle finger by sending back FOIA’s saying they know nothing about any sort of weather modification anywhere ever. Think how absurd this (more…)

The Department of Justice issued the first financial report for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s “Russia” investigation Tuesday, indicating the costs ran well into the millions months ago.
The report, which covers the investigation from its inauguration on May 17 to the end of September, shows a total expenditure to that point of $3,213,695.
But buried in the report is the fact that the Department of Justice spent an additional $3,546,000 outside the Special Counsel’s budget to support Mueller’s investigation, yielding a total expenditure through September of $6,759,695.
If the discoveries over the past few decades have told us anything, it’s that the evolution of humans is anything but simple.
Now, a new discovery on the Mediterranean island of Crete might be about to put yet another cat among those pigeons, as researchers claim that hominin footprints found on the island date back some 5.7 million years.
The fossils have been found in Trachilos, western Crete, and appear to show many hominin-like characteristics at a time when it has long been believed hominins were evolving in relative isolation in East Africa.
The tracks are bipedal, and seem to indicate that the creature that made them had a prominent ball of the foot, a large forward facing big toe, and a lack of claws, all of which are indicative of a hominin creator.
Uber was reportedly subject to a hack that compromised the personal data of 57 million customers and drivers and the company did not disclose the breach for over a year.
Uber also paid the hackers $100,000 to delete the information and keep quiet.
Bloomberg broke the news: Compromised data from the October 2016 attack included names, email addresses and phone numbers of 50 million Uber riders around the world, the company told Bloomberg on Tuesday. The personal information of about 7 million drivers were accessed as well, including some 600,000 U.S. driver’s license numbers. No Social Security numbers, trip location details or other data were taken, Uber said.
At the time of the incident, Uber was negotiating with U.S. regulators investigating separate claims of privacy violations. Uber now says it had a legal obligation to report the hack to regulators and to drivers whose license numbers were taken. Instead, the company paid hackers $100,000 to delete the data and keep the breach quiet. Uber said it believes the information was never used but declined to disclose the identities of the attackers.
