Do dueling memos foreshadow ruins of liberty?

Do dueling memos foreshadow ruins of liberty?

(Alan Keyes) – “Nothing was more to be desired than that every practicable obstacle should be opposed to cabal, intrigue, and corruption. These most deadly adversaries of republican government might naturally have been expected to make their approaches from more than one quarter, but chiefly from the desire in foreign powers to gain an improper ascendant in our councils. …

Time to remove socialist “huddled masses” plaque from Statue of Liberty

Time to remove socialist “huddled masses” plaque from Statue of Liberty

(Selwyn Duke) – With storied statues having come down from sea to shining sea the past year, it’s time for the same to happen with something somewhat newer: the socialist-born plaque in the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal. Yeah, it’s the one with the “huddled masses” bit. There are good reasons for it to be removed, too above and beyond the fact that our whole nation is being turned into a huddled mass…

Liberty Will Prevail in 2018 — Despite setbacks, says Ron Paul.

Liberty Will Prevail in 2018 — Despite setbacks, says Ron Paul.

Happy New Year! We always approach a new year with anticipation, hope, and also some worries. Last year was one of the strangest political years I have seen in some time. A new Republican president spent his first year pursuing more or less the same foreign policy as his Democratic predecessor and the Democratic Party spent the year looking under every rock in the US for a “Russian connection” or any other reason to see him impeached over it.

The neocon-dominated foreign policy establishment on both the Left and Right were so furious that candidate Trump dared suggest we could get along with our “enemies” overseas that they jumped on the impeachment bandwagon — even though once he became president Donald Trump filled his Administration with neocons and began dropping bombs.

Like “peace candidate” Obama, Donald Trump quickly dropped his “get along with others” rhetoric to become just another aggressive, interventionist US president. He slammed missiles into Syria over unproven claims of a chemical attack, he built US military bases on Syrian soil, he (more…)

God, author of liberty, to Thee can we still sing?

God, author of liberty, to Thee can we still sing?

(Alan Keyes) – A few days before Christmas, I went to Union Station in Washington, D.C., to sing Christmas carols with a group of folks organized by my friend, Jack Ames, a co-founder of the Defend Life organization. I arrived a little late, to find the group singing in a spot outside the entrance on the west side of the station, near stairs leading down to the Metro. They were gathered ’round a nativity scene, regaling passersby with infectious enthusiasm. I quickly caught their good spirit and joined in. …

Erasing the Liberty: The Battle to Keep Alive the Memory of Israel’s Massacre on the USS Liberty

Erasing the Liberty: The Battle to Keep Alive the Memory of Israel’s Massacre on the USS Liberty

On June 8, 1967, the virtually unarmed USS Liberty (AGTR-5), the U.S. Navy’s most sophisticated spy ship, while monitoring communications in international waters in the eastern Mediterranean during the Six-Day War—to find out if the Soviet Union was assisting its Arab client states—was viciously attacked by unmarked Israeli jets and marked Israeli motor torpedo boats.

The unprovoked, premediated assault murdered 34 young American boys and wounded 174, out of a crew of 294, an almost 71% casualty rate. The ship took nearly 1,000 cannon and rocket holes—some the size of basketballs—as well as over 5,000 armor-piercing shells, through the skin of the vessel. The Israelis dropped napalm on the defenseless ship and shot at sailors attempting to rescue the wounded and put out fires, as well as firing on all the remaining life rafts, a war crime.

Caught in the act after a Liberty SOS was picked up by the USS Saratoga (CV-60) hundreds of miles away conducting drills with other vessels of the Sixth Fleet, Israel claimed the massacre was an “accident,” (more…)

‘Religious liberty’ anti-LGBT amendment puts defense budget at risk

‘Religious liberty’ anti-LGBT amendment puts defense budget at risk

A necessary defense bill has become a loaded issue after Republican lawmakers attached a provision that allows federal contractors to discriminate against employees based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is a very basic federal law which creates the budget for the Department of Defense. It is reauthorized […]Source: ‘Religious liberty’ anti-LGBT amendment puts defense budget at risk
