A MASSIVE preliminary 5.6 magnitude earthquake has struck Mexico as blaring sirens sent people dashing into the street for safety, it has been reported.

The quake registered 5.6 magnitude, according to a preliminary reading by Mexico’s seismological service.
It was later revised to 5.2 magnitude by the US Geological Service.
According to local news, the quake struck in south west Mexico, 18km from the city of Xalpatlahuac.
The quake was felt as far as Mexico City where sirens were sounded.
A Mexican government official said there is no immediate reports of significant damage. There was no tsunami warning issued.
